MLB 2012 Game #9: Tigers vs. White Sox

This could be the biggest game of the season for the Chicago White Sox. Regardless of the outcome of tonight's game, the White Sox will hold at least a share of first place. A win on the other hand would keep the Detroit Tigers two games back. On top of that, the two best pitchers will face each other. Drama? Absolutely.

Tonight, the Tigers will send Justin Verlander (13-8, 2.91 ERA) to the mound. The White Sox will counter with Chris Sale (16-6, 2.88 ERA). Now if we can just guarantee that the dark clouds will clear out of the area in time for the game.

Just to make the Cubs still seem relevant, here are the current NL Central standings look like this:
Cincinnati Reds 87-57 .604 ---
St. Louis Cardinals 75-68 .524 11.5 GB
Pittsburgh Pirates 72-70 .507 14 GB
Milwaukee Brewers 72-71 .503 14.5 GB
Chicago Cubs 56-87 .392 30.5 GB
Houston Astros 45-98 .315 41.5 GB
