World Series Winners During My Lifetime

Without a doubt, the New York Yankees have won more World Series titles (27) than any other franchise. The St. Louis Cardinals are a distant second with 11. But this afternoon I started thinking. I was born late during the 1973 season. I gave myself a small research project. Which team has won the most World Series titles during my lifetime? Which teams have played in the most?

Out of 38 World Series played (note that the 1994 postseason was canceled due to the strike), the results are.

New York Yankees - 7 wins, 4 losses (11 total)
St. Louis Cardinals - 3 wins, 3 losses (6 total)
Oakland Athletics - 3 wins, 2 losses (5 total)
Cincinnati Reds - 3 wins, 0 losses (3 total)
Philadelphia Phillies - 2 wins, 3 losses (5 total)
Los Angeles Dodgers - 2 wins, 3 losses (5 total)
Boston Red Sox - 2 wins, 2 losses (4 total)
Minnesota Twins - 2 wins, 0 losses (2 total)
Florida Marlins - 2 wins, 0 losses (2 total)
Toronto Blue Jays - 2 wins, 0 losses (2 total)
Atlanta Braves - 1 win, 4 losses (5 total)
New York Mets - 1 win, 2 losses (3 total)
San Francisco Giants - 1 win, 2 losses (3 total)
Detroit Tigers - 1 win, 1 loss (2 total)
Baltimore Orioles - 1 win, 1 loss (2 total)
Kansas City Royals - 1 win, 1 loss (2 total)
Chicago White Sox - 1 win, 0 losses (1 total)
