Team Game: 30 Down, 0 to GoLast Sunday, Susan and I traveled to Yankee Stadium to catch an interleague matchup between the Colorado Rockies and New York Yankees. The weather was hot and so was the Rockies offense. The mercury reached 100 degrees and the Rockies plated eight runs. While there, my seemingly endless Team Game quest finally came to an end. The Rockies logo was the final piece in the 30-team puzzle.
Let's rewind to October 2010. We were on vacation in London. While walking along the banks of the River Thames, I spotted a Minnesota Timberwolves logo on the ground. Why? No clue. But that made me think. How long would it take to find all 30 MLB logos out in the wild? That answer ended up being 2,544 days.
So back to Yankee Stadium. Our tickets included access to a lounge in the Champions Suite with free food and beverages (not including alcohol). That provided periodic air-conditioned relief on a searing-hot afternoon. Just prior to first pitch, we stopped inside to grab lunch. There it was, right at the start of the food line: the Colorado Rockies logo. To clarify, I could not take credit for logos spotted on anything that I owned, they could not appear on clothing and they could not appear on anything inside a ballpark on the field (scoreboard, batting circles, etc.). But on a paper sign that was printed just prior to the three-game series? You bet.
