Back to Milwaukee this afternoon. But today, I finally get to see my team play live.The fourth-place Chicago Cubs (8-13, .381) are hoping to avoid a sweep this afternoon. They have dropped three consecutive games and are 2-8 during their last 10 games. The Cubs, who trail the front-running Milwaukee Brewers (15-7, .682) by 4 1/2 games, suffered crushing blows this weekend. On Friday the Brewers won 11-1, and on Saturday 9-1.
With hopes of ending the losing streak, the Cubs will send 31-year-old righty Marcus Stroman (0-3, 6.98 ERA) to the mound. A free-agent signing during the offseason, Stroman is still searching for his first win as a member of the Cubs. He's made four starts this season and pitched 19.1 innings.
The Brewers will counter with their staff ace, 27-year-old righthander Corbin Burnes (1-0, 1.75 ERA). The 2021 National League Cy Young Award winner made four starts this season and pitched 25.2 innings.
