MLB 2022 Game #12: Rockies vs. BrewersI'm in the middle of a solid baseball game streak. Last night, I joined friends from SABR's Chicago and Central Illinois chapters. We watched as the Joliet Slammers demolished the lowly Empire State Greys, 13-0. Joliet is inching back to the .500 mark. With the win they are now 29-30. The Greys? They fell to 3-56. No, that is not a typo.
This afternoon we are headed back to Milwaukee as the Brewers (52-43, .547) host the Colorado Rockies (43-52, 453). The first-place Brewers hold a game-and-a-half lead over the St. Louis Cardinals (51-45, .531) in the NL Central. Milwaukee, the winners of two consecutive games, will send 27-year-old Eric Lauer (6-3, 3.64 ERA) to the mound.
The fourth-place Rockies trail the Los Angeles Dodgers (63-30, .677) by 21 games in the NL West. This afternoon they will send 29-year-old Chad Kuhl (6-5, 4.11 ERA) to the mound.
Fun Fact: The last time I saw the Colorado Rockies and Milwaukee Brewers play was on October 5, 2018. The Brewers beat the Rockies, 4-0, to win Game 2 of the National League Division Series. With the win, the Brewers grabbed a commanding 2-0 series lead and would eventually sweep the series to advance to the NLCS against the Dodgers.
