If it Ended Today...

...these teams would qualify for Major League Baseball's post-season.

In the National League, the Chicago Cubs would win the Central Division, while the New York Mets would win the Eastern Division and the Arizona Diamondbacks would win the Western Division. The Milwaukee Brewers would claim the National League Wild Card.

Over in the American League, the Chicago White Sox would barely hang on the win the Central Division, while the Tampa Bay Rays would win the Eastern Division, and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim would cruise to the Western Division crown. The defending World Series champions Boston Red Sox would claim the American League Wild Card.

As the calendar flipped to September, the Major League rosters expanded. Look for a number of new faces to appear on your television when you watch your favorite team. The Cubs have already started resting some starters for their final stretch to a division title.

Also, seeing it's September 1, both the Cubs and White Sox lead their respective divisions. The Cubs' Magic Number remains at 22, while the White Sox have a Magic Number of 26.

The way the records stand, it looks like the Brewers would play the Cubs in the first round of the playoffs, regardless of who finishes first.

Regardless of record, the wild card cannot play their own division winner in the NLDS. We'll need to brace ourselves for a great NLCS.
