Fantasy Baseball Draft is Complete

This morning, my fantasy baseball league gathered for our annual draft. I've always joked that our auction-style draft is really a bunch of guys sitting in a living room saying players' names and counting by one. Believe me, if you've been a part of a fantasy draft, you know what I am talking about. It goes something like this:

"Joe Mauer for $20. $21...$22...$23...etc."

If you are not familiar with fantasy baseball, you draft real players and use their actual statistics to build your own teams and compete against each other. This year, our league has nine teams. That's slightly smaller than we've had in the past, but is still quite competitive. For this league we use five offensive categories and five pitching categories. We draft two catchers (C), one first baseman (1B), one second baseman (2B), one shortstop (SS), one third baseman (3B), one corner (1B/3B), one middle (2B/SS), five outfielders (OF), one utility player (UTIL), nine pitchers (P), and seven bench players (B#).

Here's my 2010 opening day roster:

C - Bengie Molina (San Francisco Giants)
C - Russell Martin (Los Angeles Dodgers)
1B - Prince Fielder (Milwaukee Brewers)
2B - Brian Roberts (Baltimore Orioles)
SS - Jimmy Rollins (Philadelphia Phillies)
3B - Mark Reynolds (Arizona Diamondbacks)
1B/3B - Derrek Lee (Chicago Cubs)
2B/SS - Alexei Ramirez (Chicago White Sox)
OF - Nelson Cruz (Texas Rangers)
OF - Ichiro Suzuki (Seattle Mariners)
OF - Torii Hunter (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim)
OF - Manny Ramirez (Los Angeles Dodgers)
OF - Jason Kubel (Minnesota Twins)
UTIL - Corey Hart (Milwaukee Brewers)
P - Jonathon Papelbon (Boston Red Sox)
P - Jake Peavy (Chicago White Sox)
P - Dan Haren (Arizona Diamondbacks)
P - A.J. Burnett (New York Yankees)
P - John Danks (Chicago White Sox)
P - Ryan Dempster (Chicago Cubs)
P - Francisco Rodriguez (New York Mets)
P - Brad Lidge (Philadelphia Phillies)
P - Hiroki Kuroda (Los Angeles Dodgers)
B1 - Mark Buehrle (Chicago White Sox)
B2 - Justin Duchscherer (Oakland Athletics)
B3 - Miguel Tejada (Baltimore Orioles)
B4 - Daisuke Matsuzaka (Boston Red Sox)
B5 - Conor Jackson (Arizona Diamondbacks)
B6 - Ervin Santana (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim)
B7 - Clint Barmes (Colorado Rockies)

I think I have a good team, but ask me again in October.

Your pitching looks a little thin for a 9 team league, but your offense is pretty solid.

I agree. A number of questions with my starters, but we'll see where it goes.

Your starting pitching looks great...Peavy, Haren, Buehrle, Danks...U need some closer help.

Some guys walked out of the draft without any closers. My budget just started to run thin at the end.
