Bold Statement - Part II

Yesterday, I mentioned that a co-worker proclaimed that the Cubs would never again look up at the Cardinals in the standings in 2008. Since the Cardinals had an early afternoon game against Cincinnati, and the Cubs played at night, we had the potential for debate.

Yes, it happened. The Cardinals had a half-game lead around 4:30 p.m.

The Cardinals defeated "Dusty's Dudes," the Reds before the workday ended. Our resident St. Louis fan proceeded to print the standings from Major League Baseball's website and display them around the office. He hung them in all the great places like the backside of bathroom doors, in the kitchen, and the Cubs fans' offices and cubes.

Marty, the statement-maker, claimed he meant at the end of the day. I guess it helps that the Cubs unloaded on the Brewers last night 19-5.

Well, if Bill Clinton can question the meaning of "is," then I guess no technicality is too small.
