Wiffle Ball 1990: Game #4Tuesday, May 23, 1990
Bill (2-1) vs. Craig (1-2)
This game lead to a rule change to take effect in 1991. We implemented the new "Grand Slam Rule" in 1990. Again, if a batted ball was hit over the house across the street, the batter would be credited with one home run, but be given four runs for the game.
Bill lead off the game with a home run in the top of the first inning. Craig answered with three of his own in the bottom of the first. Both batters added two a piece in the second inning. The game remained 5-3 in favor of Craig entering the top of the fifth. Bill answered with four solo blasts to claim a 7-5 lead in the top of the fifth. In the bottom half of the fifth, Craig belted one home run for a "Grand Slam" ruling. Due to the rule, Craig won 9-7 despite only hitting six home runs in the game. Both pitchers recorded 10 strikeouts.
