What's the Next Big Thing on TV?

Last night, devoted Lost fans said their final goodbyes to their favorite show. Tonight, I'll say farewell to 24. Well, at least in television form. There are rumors of a feature film being made. The four major television networks are also canceling a number of big name programs for the next season. NBC is pulling the plug on one of my old favorites, Heroes. That show started off with a fantastic debut season and even had a great follow-up. But season three dragged and the show became full of itself, and I didn't bother to watch the current season. So that brings up a great question.

What is the next big thing on television?

Any rumors floating around? Any shows that are currently on that might grab larger audiences now that other shows are being cleared out? For the record, if you're not watching NBC's 30 Rock, I think you're missing the funniest show on television at the moment. Sorry fans of The Office (and I am one of them), but that show lost a few miles per hour off its fastball the last few seasons.

I completely agree about The Office and I'm a recent fan of 30 Rock. I had been told numerous times that it was great, but hadn't caught on until recently. I also think Modern Family is hilarious and could use a boost in the fan base numbers.

Good call on Modern Family. I've only seen a few episodes, but they were very good.

Maybe I've gotten too old to appreciate TV but most of it annoys me more than it entertains or interests me. I tend to watch shows I have enjoyed in the past rather than anticipate what is coming in the future. I used to live for the Fall Preview TV Guide and read it in anticipation of what new is coming. Now, I don't even care or bother. I think I was right in the beginning...I'm getting old. :) I'm glad you can find things you enjoy and look forward to the next series or idea. Hope they only get better.

There's still far too much reality TV out there for my taste. Each time I think reality TV is dead, it keeps kicking. There's just not enough good scripted TV out there.

Modern Family is hilarious. I hope it keeps going for many years!

I haven't seen much of Modern Family, but I love it. It's great comedy. It's not really a series, but America the Story of Us has been awesome too.

Parks and Rec has also been great lately. Andrew & I are big fans of Breaking Bad and Treme.

I'm with Linda, except for the morning GMA show I usually only watch CSI and Law and Order reruns.

I agree that Parks and Recreation is much better than the first season.

We like Breaking Bad too and 30 Rock. Not much else going on in tv land. I still need to check out Modern Family.

Modern Family and In The Middle are great, but I think I'm taking the summer off from TV. Baseball and some Sports Center.

I agree. Summer will be a nice break from television. That is except for Cubs games and MLB Network.

I would completely understand why someone would want that to happen.
