MLB 2010 Game #7: Phillies vs. CubsToday, a group of guys from my office are headed to the Cubs game for our annual outing. This isn't an official work outing, just a bunch of guys looking for a day away from the office. This will be my third Cubs game this season, and unless something changes along the way, my last for 2010. As of today, my remaining games are in St. Louis, Minnesota and Milwaukee.
The Phillies will send Joe Blanton (3-5, 6.41 ERA) to the mound to pitch against Ted Lilly (3-8, 4.08 ERA). The Phillies are currently 47-41 and find themselves in third place in the National League East. They trail the Atlanta Braves by 5 1/2 games. In the National League Central, the Cubs are tied with the Milwaukee Brewers for third place with a 40-50 record, and trail the Cincinnati Reds by nine games.
Since the All-Star Game has come and gone, and the non-waiver trading deadline is rapidly approaching, I'll be curious to see if this is Ted Lilly's final game pitching for the Cubs. Based upon reports, Lilly is the player who might bring back the most in return. We'll see.
