What a Start

Two weeks ago, I would have sworn the Chicago Bears would be 1-1 right now. They opened the regular season at home against the Detroit Lions. I assumed that would be a win. Additionally, I assumed they would have fallen victim to the Dallas Cowboys. Following a miracle victory in Week 1, thanks to technicality on a touchdown call, the Bears edged the Lions, 19-14. Though not a blowout, the Bears did defeat the Cowboys in Week 2, 27-20.

Now here's the question. How good are the Bears? I generally don't talk too much football on Humzoo. Only a few instances here and there. From the beginning of the 2010 season, I stated the Bears would win four games, maybe five if they were lucky. As of the conclusion of Week 2, they reached 50% of my prediction for the entire season. Next week, they play the Green Bay Packers on ESPN's Monday Night Football (with 1940s retro uniforms). The two teams lead the NFC North Division, both with records of 2-0. Both the Lions and Minnesota Vikings are at the bottom of the division with 0-2 records.

I hate to predict doom, but I just see a scenario where the Bears will be able to stretch their record to 3-0 next week. The Packers appear to be the best team in the division, possibly the best in the NFC. If the Bears can manage an upset next Monday, I just might have to take another look at the remaining schedule. Perhaps a playoff appearance could happen.

But let's not get too far ahead.

I'm not holding my breath, but maybe these first 2 games are what the Bears need to get their butts in gear. I don't think they're a bad team but they are kind of rag tag/bad-news-bearsish. I think they could be good but we'll have to wait and see.....and they need to improve on their pass protection for the QB!!!!!
