Damn Yankees: ALCS Style

Yes, that title is cliche. Unfortunately, it also perfectly appropriate.

In true 2010 American League playoff fashion, the Texas Rangers lost another home game in the playoffs. This time, it was Game 1 of the American League Championship Series. The Rangers grabbed an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, and eventually increased their lead to 5-0. But the New York Yankees weren't rattled. Sure, the Rangers drove CC Sabathia from the mound early, but the Yankees were not down and out. The Yankees stole Game 1 with a final score of 6-5. They had one hell of an eighth inning.

Now back to the home field disadvantage. Only one home team won a game in the postseason so far in the AL. Of course, it was Game 3 of the ALDS when the Yankees eliminated the Minnesota Twins at Yankee Stadium. During the ALDS against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Rays possessed home field advantage in that best-of-five series. Now, the Rangers have home field advantage over the Yankees in this best-of-seven series.

Bad news for the Rangers.

Yes - I used that cliche quite a bit recently. We can't ever seem to get past them.

Darn. Steve and I went to bed last night when the Rangers were ahead 5-0 (we're on the road and we were bushed). Really sorry to hear that the Yankees came from behind to win. Go Rangers!!

The Yanks lost last night by a score of 8-0; however, I was glad to see local North Carolinian Josh Howard have another Home Run. There is a lot of close ties between my local area and the Texas Rangers.
