MLB Game #3: Padres vs. Cubs

Susan called me on Tuesday afternoon to say she could get tickets for the Wednesday night Cubs game. Of course, I cleared my schedule. Over the weekend, I was thinking that my first game at Wrigley Field this season wasn't scheduled until mid July.

The probable starting pitchers for Wednesday are Jake Peavy (4-2) and Ted Lilly (3-4).

Here are the current National League Central Division standings:

Chicago Cubs 23-16 .590 ---
St. Louis Cardinals 23-18 .561 1 GB
Houston Astros 22-18 .550 1.5 GB
Milwaukee Brewers 20-19 .513 3 GB
Pittsburgh Pirates 19-20 .487 4 GB
Cincinnati Reds 17-23 .425 6.5 GB

Carrie, as promised, I've posted a retro Brewers logo in honor of the beating your guys gave to the Cardinals. It made first place possible.

I think I was about 8 when my family and I were on a (probably fishing) trip up to Wisconsin with another family, and I got my parents to buy me a hat with that logo on it. I thought I was just getting a baseball cap with a ball glove on it. When we met up with the other family later, Chris (who was around 12, I think), freaked out and asked, "Where did you get that hat?!" We told him and he went tearing off through the mall to buy one of his own. Seeing the puzzled look on my face, that's when my Dad pointed out to me the "m" and "b" in the glove and explained that it was a Brewers hat, and Chris was a huge fan. "Oh, okay, cool," I says, a little embarrassed since I thought myself a Cubs fan.

I've seen that logo a lot and have never noticed the "m" and the "b" before. Pretty cool design.

If you need a parking permit pass let me know. I live a few blocks from wrigley and can leave one for you in my grill.

Rick, thanks for the offer, but we're taking the train today.

that was a fun game huh? I ended up going too. I got lucky and had seats near home plate. The umpire's strike zone was brutal for both sides. That strike 3 he called on Giles was way high and outside. Although I dont think he is a good lead off hitter, it is exciting when Soriano gets hot. I personally would never throw that guy a strike.
