An Early Morning Quiz at the Gym
Normally, I don't stop at Courts Plus before work on Fridays. Since I'm in a cycling class early on Thursday morning, and again on Saturday morning, I usually reserve my Friday mornings for cereal, chocolate milk, and drifting aimlessly around the Internet. For some reason, I decided to hit the gym for a change this morning. When I walked in, the place was sparsely populated. I guess that's expected this time of year. I made a few leisurely laps around the track until I was stopped by an older gentleman near the weights in the corner. He pointed at me and yelled out, "Hey, Boston!"
I knew exactly what he meant. I was wearing my old Boston Braves replica baseball cap. I pointed to the large block "B" stitched in white in front and said it was for the Braves.
"You mean the Atlanta Braves?" he asked.
"No, the Boston Braves. Before they moved to Milwaukee and then to Atlanta," I said. "It's the oldest franchise in Major League Baseball."
He laughed. "I was just quizzing you young man. You know your baseball history, don't you?"
I started jogging again, and answered, "Yeah, it's kind of my thing."
