And That Makes Seven

This afternoon, the Texas Rangers eliminated the Tampa Bay Rays from the playoffs with a 4-3 victory at Tampa's Tropicana Field. The American League West champions won the series three games to one. Both teams faced each other in the American League Division Series last season, but that series stretched to a full five games. The Rangers will advance to the American League Championship Series and face either the Detroit Tigers or New York Yankees. The Tigers hold a 2-1 series lead and could eliminate the Yankees with a win this evening in Detroit's Comerica Park.

In the National League, the Milwaukee Brewers are gearing up for a 3-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks. After winning the first two games at Miller Park, the series shifts venues to Phoenix and Chase Field. With a win tonight, the Brewers will advance to the National League Championship Series to face either the Philadelphia Phillies or St. Louis Cardinals. The Phillies and Cardinals split the first two games in Philadelphia. The series resumed this afternoon in St. Louis' Busch Stadium.
