Extra Innings

I'm sure fans of the Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians are glad to have baseball back, but I'm equally certain that their bullpens are already asking for a day off.

On Thursday, the two teams met up on Opening Day in Cleveland. All they did was establish a new record for the longest Opening Day game in Major League Baseball history. They needed 16 innings, but the Blue Jays scored a 7-4 win on the road.

On Saturday, both teams matched up again. Both starting pitchers, Ubaldo Jimenez and Brandon Morrow, flirted with no-hitters. Once again, the Blue Jays needed extra innings to score another 7-4 win. Today, they needed 12 innings.

Perhaps on Easter Sunday they'll finish their afternoon game in the regulation nine innings.
