Cubs vs. White Sox 2012: The North Side Edition

Other than the surprise retirement of Kerry Wood on Friday, there was little to no buzz surrounding the first 3-game series of the season between the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox. Neither team had terribly high expectations entering this season, and at the mid-May mark, those expectations remain the same. Honestly, there wasn't any buzz last season either. You know, the same was true in 2010.

Let's see, the White Sox completed the 3-game sweep at Wrigley Field. Friday was the closest game. The Sox pulled off a 3-2 win. On Saturday, the final score made the game look closer than it truly was. The Sox had a 7-0 lead in the ninth inning, only for the Cubs to rally, but still fall well short. The White Sox won that game 7-4. This afternoon, the game wasn't even close. The White Sox completed the sweep with a 6-0 win.

The two teams will meet again on the south side in mid-June. All the White Sox need is one more win against the Cubs to reclaim the Irresponsible-Company-That-Spewed-Oil-into-the-Gulf-of-Mexico-After-Several-Failed-Attempts Crosstown Cup.
