My first instructional baseball book featured Joey Jay, on the mound for the Milwaukee Braves, demonstrating how to pitch. Between 1953 and 1966, he played for the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds. Jay, a career 99-game winner, would pitch in the 1961 World Series as a member of the Reds against the New York Yankees.
