This place has been bugging me. If the US flag is lowered to half-mast, the other flags need to be as low or lower.

Why is it at half-mast?

No clue. Seems like everyone randomly lowers their flags these days.

Dittoing Bill on the flag comment - no rhyme or reason anymore.

Could it be ignorance about flag etiquette?

I know in MI they lower the flag any time someone from the state is killed in Iraq or Afghanistan...maybe that's why the American flag is at half-mast? But yeah, it bugs me too that the other ones aren't down.

Well from what I understand, the rules on flying at half-mast are a little more lenient these days--doesn't just need to be a well-known national political figure. Can be local/state elected official or just a well-known local person.
